To help you be the best parents that you can be, we have compiled some of the most frequently asked questions about baby clothes and we’ve answered them in the best way that we can.
Should I pre-wash newly bought baby clothes?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions that we hear from our customers and our answer is yes, we do recommend you wash your newly bought baby clothes. Before you even let them wear these items, throw them in the washer and dryer because the fabric has gone through several things before they end up on shelves in stores.
Some of the most common reasons are that they may be fitted by other people’s babies, dust may have settled in due to it sitting on shelves for a long time and it contains chemicals that helps it maintain vibrancy in stores.
Should I go for items that are one size bigger than our baby’s actual size?
Yes, you should. As we’ve mentioned earlier, the growth spurt of your precious babies is unpredictable. One day these clothes may fit them regularly and the next day, their skin tight.
To compensate for this rapid growth, we encourage you to buy clothes that are a full or half size bigger than the baby’s actual size. This will lessen your need to buy new clothes every few months or so and it will help them stay comfortable.
What detergent should I use when washing baby clothes?
You can simply use the same detergent that your entire family uses to wash their clothes. However, we do recommend liquid-based detergents over powdered ones because they tend to rinse off easier.
With powdered detergents, some flakes may remain on the clothes which can easily irritate the baby’s sensitive skin.
What’s the best way to remove urine stains?
As parents, you can already expect how many diaper changes you’ll need. Sometimes, the diaper isn’t absorbent enough and your baby’s clothes end up being stained and we’ve discovered that the best way to clean these off is by using ammonia and water.
To make this work properly, dilute a tablespoon of ammonia in a cup of water. You can then proceed to dab the solution over the stained area of the clothing piece.
How do I maintain the quality of baby clothes?
As much as possible we recommend you hand wash your baby clothes. This way, you can manually apply the pressure to avoid damaging the fabric or ruining the quality. If you do need to throw them in a washer, make sure to put the setting in a gentler cycle.
